Our Proposals

As you may know, plans have been approved in principle for a large mixed-use development on land to the north of Horsham, comprising new homes, employment space, retail (including supermarket), school, community facilities, sports and open space, and transport improvements.

Morrisons has been chosen to deliver a new retail store as part of this wider development, and we’ll soon be submitting a reserved matters application to Horsham District Council. This will seek permission for the design, scale and appearance of the new store, as well as the means of access and if successful, will confirm how we will fit in with the surrounding development.

Artists’ impression of our proposed Horsham store

We’re proposing a store with 55,000 sq ft gross / 30,000 sq ft net floorspace, and will create around 190 new local jobs. The store will offer our full range of fresh food (including our popular ‘Market Street’ with specialist butchers, bakers and fishmongers) and improve shopping choice and competition for residents in Horsham.

Fresh produce at our new Kirkby store

In recent years we have opened several ‘new look’ stores, and we’d like to bring some of the new innovations we’ve learned from there to Horsham. These pictures from our newest store in Kirkby (opened October 2021) show how the Horsham store could look and feel.

Access to the store will be from Rusper Road, and we’ll be providing 319 parking spaces (including disabled, parent & toddler and electric charging) as well as secure cycle storage.
